How To Clean Granite

Granite is one of the most durable natural stones, popular in both kitchens and bathrooms. While it is more acid-resistant than marble or travertine, granite still requires proper care to maintain its polished appearance and protective seal.

Why Granite Needs pH-Balanced Care

Although granite is harder and less porous than other natural stones, it is not invincible:

  • Sealer damage: Acidic or harsh cleaners can break down the protective sealant, leaving the stone vulnerable to stains
  • Dullness: Repeated use of harsh chemicals can dull the polished finish over time
  • Water spots and mineral buildup: Especially near sinks and faucets in bathrooms
  • Some granite contains minerals that can react with acids or bleach

ÁTHOS plant-based cleaners are pH-neutral and will not strip your granite's protective seal, keeping it protected and beautiful.

Common Granite Problems

  • Hard water stains and mineral deposits (especially in bathrooms)
  • Soap scum on bathroom vanities
  • Dull spots behind faucets where water sits
  • Grease buildup on kitchen countertops
  • Water rings from glasses or bottles
